Sooo... August 1st through 4th is our Thirty-One National Conference in Atlanta, GA... From what I hear it's a "business changing," if not "life changing" experience not to be missed if you're interested even the least bit in furthering your 31 biz. So of course I signed up!

This is how much I want to go...
Disclaimer: These may seem small and insignificant to some, but to me they are *HuGe* things! This is kind of a big deal for me!

(1) I had to borrow the $200 to sign up from my parents (thanks Mom & Dad!).
(2) I'm staying in a room with a bunch of (no doubt fabulous) ladies that I've never met before.
(3) I'm *car.pooling* (I'll let that sit with you a while... yep, car pooling) to ATL... That's like 10 hours... *
(4) I'm leaving my baby girl for the longest time everrrr so far! And did I mention I'm going to be like 10 hours away from her?! *Eek*

Oh, and did I mention I don't know anyone that's going?!?

It's OK though, because the excitement outweighs the uncertainties and scaries by far!

I'm looking forward to new friendships, LOTS of motivation and learning, and who's kidding... the FREEBIES!!!

Can't wait :) Will have to post an update when I get back!!

I might be glowing in Pink. It's not hard for this company to make me do that :) They're so Thirty-"Onederful"... yep I went there... corny enough for ya? ;)

Till next time!

*Car pooling is a work in progress... hafta iron out the deets with another Thirty-"Onderful" consultant :) Keeping my fingers crossed it works out! If not, it's bus, train or plane! By my lonesome! Eek!

The Mermaid Nursery

It's nearly impossible to find nursery items that are ocean / sea / underwater themed that are specifically for a girl! After searching for MONTHS, I came super close to buying one of the green & blue sets with sharks and octopuses on it and sewing on pink cutesy stuff. I (and the hubby) am super glad it didn't come to that thank you to (insert super hero theme here) Pottery Barn Kids! No, they didn't have a little girl underwater themed nursery set, but they DID have a couple of pink seahorse mobiles (we bought the wooden one, but there was also a very adorable pink paper cut-out one) as well as wall stickers that are mermaids, fish, starfish & flowers that match the - wait for it - nursery bedding that we bought! We went with a set that didn't have a theme to it, but instead had the colors we were looking for (mostly aqua & pink). Anyhoo - here are pics of the finished product - I just hope the baby loves the ocean =)

 Pink striped rug, from Lowes.
Basket that was used for favors for our wedding.
Laundry 'basket' and grey tote with polka dots from Thirty-One Gifts (www.MyThirtyOne.com/KellyCoffman)

This dresser was given to me by a friend when she was moving years ago. It was my dresser at my parent's house - beautiful wood veneer dresser. Hubby painted it, I painted the wooden knobs and we stuck on stickers from Pottery Barn Kids. Ta-da :)
Lamp is from Target - we added a sticker to that also so it looked like it was part of the nursery "set."
Adorable jewelry box that baby girl got for Christmas that matches her room's colors is from Kohl's.

Baby girl's massively-fast-growing book collection is on a shelf that used to be black. Hubby spray painted that for me (no paint fumes while preggo!).
The shadow box was a gift, came from Home Goods (loooove that store!).

Here's a snapshot of her crib without the bedding in it (safety first for the kiddo!!).
We added one of the starfish stickers to the back of the crib, which will later be a head board (convertible crib - yesss!).
This is the beautiful pink wood & shell mobile from Pottery Barn Kids.
Lucy pup is still sleeping in her room while we're trying to break her into sleeping in her crib at night. We had to ban the pup from our bedroom because she snores like a bear... it's rediculously loud!
Oh - and if you're wondering about the books under the feet of the bed - they're temporarily propping up one side for acid-reflux-prevention-purposes.

More stickers on the door =)
The collage is photos of: Baby girl, my baby pic, Hubby's baby pic, and a pic of all three of us right before Christmas.
The "M" came from Hobby Lobby - another favorite store of mine!
The frames were wooden, two with cream colored mattes, two without mattes. Hubby spray painted them white and I painted the mattes with paint samples we'd gotten for the room. We *almost* went with lime (and I mean LIME) green on the walls... almost...

Another shot of the mobile and mermaid stickers.

 I just love this mobile!!!

These stickers are over the changing table.
The jelly fish suncatcher was a gift from my mom from a store in WP  called Diving Off the Dock. I haven't been to this store yet, but I see some of the *most* adorable ocean-themed things that come from there... It's on my to-do list!

I also painted this lightswitch plate with the paint samples we'd gotten for the room.

Here's a pic of her bedding in her crib. Love love love this set! And it's something she can grow with for a bit. Pottery Barn Kids is a bit on the pricier side - but this stuff will last forever =) Or so I hope...
Her activity mat is what's green & blue that's sticking out of the top. That's also ocean-themed. We like the beach, can you tell ?!

She even has a whale tub from Target - keeping with the beach / ocean theme.

Notes from a Pregnant Chick - Things You Don't Know About Pregnancy Until You're In It

Written on September 11, 2011
*Baby Girl was born on October 17th (5 days after her due date!)

1. Your friends will not know what to do with you.
Mention “happy hour” and people will stare at you like you’ve completely lost it. Um hello people! I can still go to happy hour and not drink – I didn’t go just to get “chocolate wasted” before, I don’t go for that reason now… Derr. I go for the great company. Annnnd the happy hour appetizer specials.

I myself am guilty of not knowing how to handle a newly pregnant friend… but here’s a hint – you don’t just stop talking to them for 9 mo’s and then try to pick up where you left off after the baby’s here. That’s a good way to hurt some feelings. Your entire being doesn’t change just because you’re pregnant. Yes, there are changes in priorities - among other things, but your basic self is still the same – you still like going out and doing the same things, like the same music, the same movies, etc. You don’t want to hang out in your basement watching DVR’d shows every night for 9 months… because you’ll go crazy.

(Note from post-pregnancy perspective – I’ve now learned that at 9+ months pregnant, you will officially not feel like going out all the time. You will want fresh air (but most of all you’ll want that sweet butterball outta your tummy), but in short bursts – or at least in situations where you don’t have to get out of the car… which you will need your hubby to pull you out of… because you have no stomach muscles… which brings us to #2.)

2. You will miss your stomach muscles, no matter whether you had a 6-pack or a pony keg pre-pregnancy.
Sitting up to get out of bed… or even roll over, getting out of a vehicle… especially at any sort of incline, hoisting yourself out of a chair… these are all difficult around Month 5 and nearly impossible by Month 8. Be nice to your baby daddy, he will come in especially handy during these moments. Plus, he will get a kick out of pushing or pulling you out of whatever you’ve gotten yourself into.

3. Everyone has an opinion… and advice… and a labor horror story.
And you will have to smile and nod unless, like my friends April & Ashley keep telling me, you use the power of pregnancy and tell them to shut it while blaming it on the hormones. Which brings me to # 4.

4. PMS mood swings have nothing on pregnancy mood swings.
I – and, well, mostly my husband, friends, family and everyone else in near proximity – have been very lucky that I’ve had barely any monumental mood swings while I’ve been pregnant. (Keeping my fingers crossed that this doesn’t change in the month we have left to go!) There have only been two occasions in which I’ve pretty much chewed my poor hubby a new one. Both of these were followed by tearful apologies and a sobbing “please forgive me, I think the baby has a voodoo doll of my body and emotions.” Again, luckily for all my surrounding people, most of my victims have been in their cars with the windows rolled up and have not been able to hear the screaming four-letter words that come out of my mouth when they drive like idiots… unfortunately, my husband has been on the phone with me a few times to witness my alter ego. BTW, we’ve nicknamed these mood swings my “hormonal outbursts”… aka … my “H.O.’s.” (Not to be confused with hoes… we say the letters “H” & “O.”)

5. The changes your body makes (at least during months 1-8) are not as freaky / scary as you think.
They’re actually pretty cool. If you take the time to think about it, everything is changing so you can create a living being. Yes, there’s a little bit of pain and discomfort, and yes you can only take Tylenol, even if you cut your finger off, but it’s all really amazing if you stop to think about it. Your bones are moving around, your stomach’s being pushed to the side, by Month 7 there are times when you feel like you can’t breath because the little bugger is pushing up against your lungs – but it’s amazing because by the end of it, you’ve got a full-grown, ready to be born baby living INSIDE of you. Craziness.

 "It's a girl"
<3 the love of my life <3

6. Showing your (non-baby-having) friends your stomach when the baby moves around will make them freak out.
Again, guilty of this. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a baby move while still in its momma’s stomach, but I’m pretty sure my first thought would have been “alien creature.” This event, in my experience so far, has been squeal-inducing – without fail. However, once that’s your baby in your stomach, you will think it is beyond the coolest thing you’ve ever witnessed. (Same goes for kicks, hiccups and just about any other movement the baby makes while in your tummy – these things will not get old. Uncomfortable at times, but every movement you feel and see is – again -amazing.)

7. Warning: Cranking up the Sap-o-Meter. Introducing a new type of love.
When thinking about the love I have for this unborn baby, I’m reminded of a “Family Circle” cartoon where the little boy asked his mom “How do you divide your love between 3 children?” to which she replies “I don’t divide it, I multiply it.” Aww. I know…

I don’t have 3 human babies, but I do have 2 fur-babies and a human baby on the way and I’m not running out of any love for any of them. (OK, I’m usually on the fence about the cat, but she’s really grown on me over the past few years.) The love you have for most of your friends is different than that you have for your family. Your love for your family is different than the love you have for your husband (or boyfriend / fiancĂ© / girlfriend / insert term here). And once you’re pregnant – especially after you see that little teddy gram on the ultrasound screen or feel him / her kick for the first time – you will realize that you can feel yet another brand of love. I guess this is mommyhood.

8. People will get pissed off if you don’t tell them the name you’ve picked out… or even worse if you don’t at least tell them the sex.
Both of which are none of their dang business. It’s completely up to you what information you want to broadcast.

*true story*

*Apparently here I ran out of things to rant about! I'm sure I missed lots - anything big I missed? Please feel free to add your 2 cents =)

P.S. Mommyhood rocks and I wouldn't change any of it (not even the sleepless-"but-I've-fed-you, changed-you, burped-you, why-are-you-still-crying"-nights). It's beyond amazing, there just aren't words to describe it.  <3

Blogs are so addicting...

Today, I was on my Thirty-One Director’s group site on Facebook where she shared a link showing how one blogger uses our Organizing Utility Tote as a traveling office. Well of course I had to check out the pics of how this bloggette put our tote to use! So next thing I know, it’s an hour later and I’ve read her post on using our O.U.T. as a portable office which included a bunch of links to other neat-o places within her blog as well as to other organizational blogs. And *of course* I have to click on every link and open a new tab and explore each of these hyperlinked items that are in her post!! I could be missing something that could change my life! Or at least inspire me to transform my overcrowded & junky office into something more sane.

 (Image is from www.mythirtyone.com/kellycoffman)

So I hopped from The Nest Effect to IHeart Organizing and A Bowl Full of Lemons. From IHeart Organizing, I click-hopped to A Thoughtful Place… And it goes on and on! It’s like trying to read everything on the internet –impossible – but I just get sucked in with all of the *brilliant* ideas these bloggers come up with seemingly little-to-no difficulty. Jealous? Mayyybe ;)

I’m the kind of person that gets super jacked up about DIY projects… Like keeps accordion folders full of ideas for things I can do on my own time and dime… And then those ideas stay in that folder… for ever! So I got really excited when I found “Take 5: Five Minute Projects” on A Thoughtful Places’s blog =) I’m aiming to try this idea out in baby girl’s nursery (with coordinating colors).

Speaking of the nursery – the Hubby should be painting it tomorrow while I’m at work!! I can NOT wait to see how it turns out. *Plus* once it’s been painted, we can get the crib (that’s currently in a huge box in our living room) put together!! So it’ll actually look like a real, live nursery – well at least a work-in-progress nursery. Super psyched =)
